Have you always known that you’ve had the skill and creativity to become a slammin’ DJ? Here’s your opportunity to showcase your spinning and mixing skills with Hitz Spin Master competition organised by Astro Hitz. This competition provides a platform and outlet for aspiring bedroom beatmakers to expose themselves.
DJ Blink and Goldfish will be Hitz Spin Master’s mentors and judges; sharing their DJing techniques with contestants throughout the course of the competitions. Hosted by Joey G, Hitz Spin Master began on the 1st of October and is a month long call for auditions. If you know you’ve got what it takes, enter online or through the on-ground auditions. Online entries require a submission of a 10 minute video clip (console must be visible) of your mixing as well as an MP3 of the mix. On ground auditions are to be held at Zouk from 28 till 29 of October from 11am to 10pm.
All of the contestants’ videos will be uploaded online and voted to the first elimination round through Facebook and Twitter voting. So every ‘Like’ or ‘ReTweet’ counts as 1 vote, deciding which 20 entrants will make it to the first elimination round. Voting begins on the 1st of November until the 15th. The top 20 will be judged by DJs Goldfish, Blink and guest DJ The Cut (Vicious Recordings) for technical mixing ability, originality, song selection and overall performance on the 18th November at Zouk. Quarterfinals take place on the 2nd and 9th of December, and the grand finale between the last 2 contenders takes place on the 11th of December. The Grand Prize winner walks away with an all expense paid trip to Brisbane and gets to rub shoulders with Australia’s #1 DJ, DJ Tydi, and they also get to play at one of Brisbane’s leading dance clubs.
