Hennessy Artistry pres. Starz Angels @ Upstairs, The Loft

JUICE got to AHR on time, but it was already jam-packed with cars, and a long line of people registering to enter Upstairs @ The Loft. The venue this time was significantly smaller than the last Hennessy Artistry at Bukit Kiara, but the crowd was no less deterred from having a good night out. It was as much about the drinks as it was about the music, and we knew we were in for a memorable Thursday night. JUICE managed to squeeze in before everyone else did and secured a few shots. Awesome cocktail mixes were going around - Hennessy Soda, Hennessy Ginger and Hennessy Red Apple. We took a sip of our drink and bang, the party started! Four masked dancers decked in black and white suits took the stage for what seemed like a dance routine, but was really a flambuoyant introduction to Malaysian hip hop homeboy Caprice’s performance. His charming cover of Akon’s ‘Right Now (Na Na Na)’ and of course, his own ‘Dem Girls’ and ‘Fantasy Girl’ won over the crowd, while his dancing girl posses in short skirts won over all the guys at Upstairs.

Not to be outdone, beatboxer Shamik took over the stage and stole the show. Dubbed ‘the human bass machine’, Shamik pumped up beats from Flo-Rida’s ‘Low’, ‘I Like To Move It Move It’ and even Benny Benassi’s ‘Satisfaction’. It blew our minds! Dope ish!

The crowd was pumped up and insane but things heated up even more when the dynamic maestros Starz Angels took over the decks. Soon enough, cheers were amplifiying from all corners of the club. The French duo really knew how to get everyone in the mood with their addictive funk, electro and hip hop sounds.

Sexy table top dancers were going at it hard, paving the way for other partygoers to bust their moves. The temperature was rising! Once the dance floor cleared, the crowd hit the dancefloor like duck to water. And the rest, as they say, is history!

The Hennessy Artistry’s Global Art of Mixing ft. Starz Angels hit Upstairs @ The Loft on Thursday 23 April 2009. More snaps from the bash at our gallery.
