All over the world, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated on 17 March. In Malaysia, it was no different as thousands throng Changkat Bukit Bintang on that unforgettable Thursday night for a fun filled time of friends, feast and of course, Guinness!

It was indeed a merry March as big bikers led the parade with their roaring engines followed by the drum-line performers who brought with them the beats that got the crowd moving. Adding to the Irish flavour was the line-up of Irish performances, dancers, street artist in elaborate costumes, games and pint after pint of everyone’s favourite black beer. The crowd also played their part by dressing in black and green apparel, including the Guinness Merry Me T-shirts and St. Patrick’s hat along with other quirky accessories that set the mood for festivity.

This is the 5th year Guinness is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Malaysia and by the looks of it this Irish festival has been greatly embraced by our local folk though most probably don’t know why they are even celebrating it. But oh well, where there’s fun and Guinness, we don’t ask too many questions…
