Gorillaz to Host Their Own Demon Dayz Festival
The virtual British group Gorillaz is back for a live show and better yet, they’re partnering up with Red Bull for a one-day festival named after their second album, Demon Dayz, that went five times platinum in the UK, which will be held at Dreamland in Margate, Kent on Saturday 10 June. The full lineup has yet to be announced at the moment besides Gorillaz themselves, of course. The band famed for their animated videos and futuristic music, primarily made of Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn, has been working hard on a new album for over two years now.
Albarn hinted in a 2015 interview with Rolling Stone that their fifth album and follow-up to 2011’s The Fall would be fast paced and full of energy. Also, Hewlett claimed the record will be dropped late in the year as he didn’t want to rush the recording process to ensure that it’s “really fucking special.”
The group has released a track called ‘Hallelujah Money’ featuring vocals from Mercury Prize winner Benjamin Clementine earlier in January. Like many outspoken artistes, their first track after having gone quiet for six years is directed at beloved Dear Leader Donald Trump. Listen to ‘Hallelujah Money’ below:
Tickets for the live show starts at £60 but you can also upgrade it to Priority Entry tickets, which are available at £70. Also, benefits from the ticket include free admission to Dreamland’s amusement park. Find out more and be sure to grab your tickets here from 9am GMT on Friday 10 March onwards. If you can’t make it to the show, there’s no need to fret either as Red Bull will be live streaming the full Demon Dayz festival via Red Bull TV.
