Making music is hard, and getting one’s music out there is even harder. This is why artists from across the world rely heavily on social media and live shows to really get their music straight to their intended audiences.

While the likes of MTV and other televised musical programs are not a major force like they used to be, seeing new artists perform in music videos and live recordings is always a fun way to discover new music.

Internationally, many would be familiar with online shows like Like a Version by Australian youth radio station Triple  J or Tiny Desk Concerts by American public radio station NPR Music. So what about a Malaysian answer to these shows?

Introducing Juicy Tunes, an online series where new and upcoming Malaysian artists can showcase their songs. To clarify, despite the coincidence in names, Juicy Tunes is in no way affiliated with JUICE Online.

Juicy Tunes is produced by the FUKiKA YT Channel, which is a collaborative effort by the record labels Rusa Music and MVM Music. This channel has since featured notable local artists like MK, Noki, Gnello [K-Clique], Kidd Santhe, and CatFarish.

FUKiKA aims to use this platform to help underground Malaysian artists start their careers in this industry. Not only do these new and upcoming artists get to perform their original songs, but FUKiKA will also help them release the song with a per-song recording contract.

Juicy Tunes ended its first season three months ago with twenty artists performing on the program. The upcoming second season will see even more local acts strut their stuff, and we won’t spoil the surprise by unveiling this exciting lineup.
