Mexico’s most famous Mariachi would approve….
Previously known as Frontera Bar & Grill, Frontero Sol Of Mexico is the place to go if you want to go Mexican. And if you want to go Mexican, then you had better fuel up – with tequila. That the word ‘bar’ comes before ‘grill’, is some indication of how stocked up Frontera’s Canteena Mexicana is. Amidst the ambience of wooden furniture and terracotta tiles, bright turquoise, deep yellow and dark brown colours and sombreros nothing goes down with tequila as well a bowl of Chilli Con Carne or any other of the terrific Mexican dishes here.

Clientele Mexican barflies and tequila drinkers.

Music policy Easy listening and classic rock from the 70s, 80s and 90s with occasional Latin music on Sundays. There’s live music on Saturday nights, with a live Friday installment due to kick of in February 2011.

Drinks Premium tequilas including Don Julio are stocked here, and Frontera reckons they have the best margaritas in town. The selection alone will have you reeling. Try their best-selling Horny Margaritas made from Sauza Hornitos tequila (RM22.95++) or The Don made from Don Julio Reposado tequila (RM30++). For more of a sting order up the home-brewed jalapeño margaritas shooters at 12++. Fierce! Or get yourself a bottle of Sol.

Happy hours Tue-Sat: 5pm-9pm; Sun & Mon: 5pm to closing. RM33 ++/ jug or RM10++/mug of Tiger beer.

Eats The kitchen is open until midnight and serves up Tex-Mex dishes – it would have to be or they’d be peeling you off the floor.. Nothing goes quite as well with tequila as a bowl of Chilli Con Carne (it’s RM10.95/cup or RM18.95/bowl or Taquitos De Pollo, a corn tortillas stuffed with chicken then deep-fried and served with salsa and cream (RM19.95), while the Habanero Hot Wings (RM16.95) comes in a choice of Mild, Hot or Super Hot, so have the fire brigade on speed dial.
