Freakout At ZoukOut 2009!

The year end marks all manner of cutting loose, but there’s noting that matches Singapore’s ZoukOut for letting go! The highly anticipated outdoor dance music festival is back on the pristine palm tree-lined Siloso Beach for the 9th year and the artist lineup looks as promising as ever.

Last year’s ZoukOut outstripped turnout expectations with a record breaking 26,000 party revellers and had a lineup that included Nouvelle Vague, Erol Alkan, The Teenagers, Dirty South and Sasha amongst others. So who’s going to headline the beach freakout this year?

It’s early days yet and while the full lineup has yet to be confirmed, ZoukOut has locked in none other than DJ Mag’s 2-time #1 DJ Armin Van Buuren. With over 30 million listeners tuning in to his radio show and constantly sold-out gigs, Armin looks set to rock the decks at ZoukOut with his uplifting, euphoric sets.

From making dancefloor smashers with the likes of Martin Solveig, Bob Sinclair, Ame and Kings of Tomorrow, Defected label owner Simon Dunmore plans to get all house music lovers grooving to his infectious beats. Look out as the house connoisseur will be playing a special set with percussion extraordinaire Shovell and Yasmeen who will lend her stirring vocals as well.

New blood in the dance music scene, The Martinez Brothers made up by Chris (17 years old) and Steve (20 years old) will also be gracing the festival. The duo who have been flying the house flag at Pacha (NYC and Ibiza), Cielo (NYC) and Social Club (Paris), and will bring the party to fever pitch with their high-energy sets.

Pioneers of the electroklash movement, Miss Kittin & The Hacker make a commanding addition to the line-up. Famed for producing one of the most exciting electro pop tracks at the turn of the century (2001’s ‘Frank Sinatra’), their celebrity followers include Karl Lagerfeld and Marilyn Manson.
