Tonight is the third studio album by the Glasgow quartet that gave us giant dance-rock hits like ‘Take Me Out’ and ‘Do You Want To’ treads through the same shallow bass-lines and drum-beats. Unlike their American counterparts The Killers that found fame roughly around the same time, Franz Ferdinand’s sound seems unchanged and predictable.
Singles ‘Ulysses’ and ‘No You Girls’ fail to live up to past expectations with no memorable choruses. Throwing in a few folky-ballads and the cheesy Euro-electro-samba ‘Can’t Stop Feeling’ doesn’t help. Could this be the death of dance-rock?
