Flood Victims Will Be Able To Replace Their IC, Passport and Birth Certificates For Free
Although the flood in Peninsular Malaysia has shown slight improvements, the losses that the victims have to suffer remain unimaginable.
However, in light of the recent events, the government has some plans that may ease the burden of the victims.
Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, the Domestic Minister has announced that flood victims who have lost important documents due to the flood can get them renewed for free. Those important documents include:
- Birth certificate
- Death certificate
- Passports
- Identification cards (IC)
The renewals of the documents can be done at the Immigration Department and the National Registration Office (JPN).
“As of now, we will focus on helping the victims in terms of cleaning. When everything is settled, we will bring in JPN’s mobile and the immigration to assist them in the renewals of the documents,” he explained to the reporters during his visit to one of the affected areas in Hulu Langat.
In the meantime, he added that a number of 16,000 police officers in the country have been tasked to rescue and assist the flood victims in their respective states.
The supply of essential needs to the victims will be carried on by the respective Chief police in the affected states.
