FEYST 2011 Indie Youth Fest And Digital Delirium Xpo
Digital culture and indie music celebration, FEYST, returns for the 4th time in Malaysia. Expect exhibitions, workshops, forums, video game tournaments, beatboxing challenges and about 40 live performances over 5 days, including the likes of Azmyl Yunor, Pesawat, Wani Ardy, Dichi Michi, Round Robin, Beatburns and Phlox. Whoah!
The Harvest, an Americana folk blues duo from Stockholm, Sweden are also coming to share their music and collaborate with local artistes. Held as an integrated part of the Sweden Malaysia Innovation Days, the FEYST 2011 Indie Youth Fest and Digital Delirium Xpo will take place in and around Pavilion from 6 to 10 May, and at No Black Tie on 9 May.
Local singer-songwriters such as Jerome Kugan, Reza Salleh, Liyana Fizi, Izzy Mohd and Bedroom Sanctuary will be playing at an intimate gig at No Black Tie that will be recorded live. We’re not sure if a CD will come out of it or who will be selling it, but The Harvest will also be joining the lineup.
For those who are considering a career or who want deeper insight into the creative digital content industry, checkout the Innovation Forum at Pavilion’s Main Concourse on closing night 10 May. The free forum is co-organised by the Swedish Embassy and its Malaysian partners (including MDEC) and will feature industry experts from Sweden and Malaysia as speakers.
There’s also the music workshop on 8 May at Rainforest Sports Bar, Pavilion. Gosh! So many things!
FEYST11 is a 6-month ongoing event and this first burst of activities mark its season kick start. More concerts and gaming tournaments will be held throughout the year, with the festival closing at grand finale event at the end of the year. An entourage of musicians and pro-gamers will head to Europe to participate at international festivals like ESWC and DreamHack in November 2011.
