Maldivian Rhythm Finds Its Home In KL With ‘Dream Beyond Borders’

This November, Malaysian audiences can look forward to a night of rhythm, creativity, and connection with ‘Dream Beyond Borders’, a Maldivian music showcase that celebrates diversity and unity through the shared language of music.

Happening on 7 November 2025 at the Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPAC), the event gathers four of the Maldives’ most exciting acts, namely 2OFUS, FASYLIVE, SPITBALL, and the Heyvalla Boduberu Group, alongside Malaysia’s own Tone Conspirators. The result is a powerful mix of island spirit and urban energy.

Headlining the show is 2OFUS, the Maldives’ leading fusion band known for blending Dhivehi, Hindi, and English lyrics with global influences.

They have represented Maldivian music on international stages, earning 2nd Runner-Up at Saregama’s Battle of the Bands International and a shortlist spot for Britain’s Got Talent Season 19. Their music speaks of pure resilience and cultural pride, driven by the belief that art can bridge both people and generations.

Sharing the stage with them are FASYLIVE, a Maldivian rock band whose spontaneous energy fuses blues, metal, and island rhythms. They have also performed at Malaysia’s Rainforest World Music Festival.

Meanwhile, SPITBALL brings a burst of punk energy that captures the optimism and defiance of the Maldives’ new generation.

The Heyvalla Boduberu Group will introduce the traditional art of Boduberu to Malaysian audiences for the first time, combining drumming, chant, and movement in a performance that celebrates the soul of Maldivian heritage.

Representing Malaysia, Tone Conspirators led by Ananth Kumar will bring their signature blend of melodic rock and modern edge, known for captivating live performances that connect deeply with audiences.

Together, these acts represent the shared pulse of Malaysia and the Maldives, uniting tradition and modern expression through sound.

Tone Conspirators frontman Ananth Kumar said, “Music has always been the strongest connector. It transcends language and geography. We’re excited to share the stage with such talented Maldivian musicians and explore how our sounds can complement one another. When artists come together with passion and purpose, they create something greater than borders: they create harmony.”

Ahmed Adhuham from 2OFUS also added, “Bringing Maldivian music to Malaysia feels deeply special because it’s about connecting two cultures through rhythm, emotion, and storytelling. Every note carries a piece of our islands, our joy, and our spirit. We want Malaysians to feel that heartbeat and discover the soul of the Maldives through our music.”

As organisers, 2OFUS and Phat Katz Events Management also shared that this showcase marks the beginning of a broader creative collaboration between the two countries, asserting that ‘Dream Beyond Borders’ is about planting the seeds of long-term artistic partnership.
