Dr Martens’ latest Fall/Winter collection is looking to the Buffalo scene that emerged from the post-punk era (no, it is not the city in New York). Buffalo is explained to a be a way of life, an attitude of rebellious self-expression. Its style was a confluence of clashing gender identities as well as a melding of a myriad of tribal wear, ceremonial attire, haute couture, and sportswear that were all paired with a pair of DM boots. It was pioneered by stylist Ray Petri and photographer Jamie Morgan, where the Buffalo aesthetic and ethos appeared on the covers of The Face magazine and its influence soon spanned the globe.
