Diplo Still Can’t Get Rihanna to Work with Him on a Track

Diplo – just like a lot of us – are huge fans of singer-turn-creative director Rihanna, who also happens to be the person behind the recently released Fenty Beauty. Naturally, the music producer showed interest in a Major Lazer x Rihanna collaboration, only to be dissed by Rih after he played her a track, as quoted by Diplo himself in the latest edition of GQ Style:
“I played her ‘Lean On.’ She was like, ‘I don’t do house music’. I face-palmed so hard on that one. Another time I had a session with her, and Future was also invited. The Weeknd was there. Metro Boomin was there before anybody knew who he was. I was so contact high. Future played her, like, 700 songs. It was four in the morning. Finally, I was like, ‘Yo, G, I’m leaving unless you let me play her a song.’ So I played her a song. And she was like, ‘This sounds like a reggae song at an airport.’ [laughs] I was like, I’m gonna go kill myself.”
Prior to that, Diplo also expressed that Rihanna is the only artiste Major Lazer can’t get. Well Diplo, sucks to be you but Rihanna knows what she wants and it’s probably not in the same musical direction as yours. In response to what Diplo spilled to GQ Style, Rihanna posted an image on Instagram with a simple caption that says, “My bad @diplo.”
Sealing her mark as queen with no fucks to give, it seems like there won’t be any collaboration by the two artistes in the near future (unless Rih suddenly feels like it, duh). No hard feelings though, Diplo is grateful for whatever he gets.
I’m fine with getting curved just to hang out with her for an hour https://t.co/nTZ2QyV9y2
