Digital Creators Get Industry Nod

Thirsty for JUICE content? Quench your cravings on our Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp

If you’re like JUICE, you’d actually want to be an animation. Yes, that’s the extent of our love for our cartoons. Watching Robotech and Transformers taught us the virtues of being good and how to kick serious mechanical butt. We loved it so much that we wanted to jump into our TVs to join the intergalactic battle. Animators are cool in our books too. And without them, there’d be no Optimus Prime. So when we heard that there was going to be an award show to honour our local digital creators, we decided to check it out.

Organised by MDeC (Multimedia Development Corporation), the MSC Malaysian Kre8tif Digital Content Conference was held recently with close to 500 delegates and speakers. It was a 3-day event with industry experts from big guns such as Marvel Animation, EA Games and Rythm and Hues. These were people who were the brains behind top selling video and computer games as well as blockbusters like 300 and Kung Fu Panda. The conference opened with company showcases, a recruitment drive and 3 master classes focused on various aspects of digital content production.

Our local digital creators were recognised for their works on the last night at an award show dinner. The theme ‘Infinite Minds, Unlimited Passion’ highlighted the vast opportunities that abound, resulting from the merging of over 20 acclaimed international and local experts in the field.

Now if anyone tells you that there isn’t a need for animators in Malaysia, they should know that local animation companies are raking in the bucks from foriegn conglomerates like Disney and Cartoon Network by supplying them with content. The quality of local animation and digital content has leaped termendously and will continue to do so with the support of agencies like MDeC.

Yes, it’s time we all join the intergalatic battle.
