Dig It!: Flica

Every month JUICE gets down with a trendsetting, jet-setting type and asks them to unearth their favourite people, places and things. This month, solo electronic artist Flica lays down the word.

1. Monocle Magazine
One of the most well-loved design magazines around, the layout is simple yet detailed. Its content ranges from business to geography, design to diet and everything else that tickles a designer’s fancy. New issues go for RM50 while you can get old ones at RM10. www.monocle.com

2. Pentacon Six TL Camera
A vintage German-made, single-lens reflect, 6×6 format film camera from the 60s. With the 80mm f2.8 Carl Zeiss lens, dramatic shots are possible. The Pentacon Six TL is rare in Malaysia with maybe less than 100 copies available. eBay price is about RM1000.

3. Fender Stratocaster ST62 Texas
A made-in-Japan reissue of the 1962 Tex Strat with US pickups. It’s hard to explain how warm and beautiful the sustain of the tone is, but I guess you can say that this is the only guitar that I use live and to record.

4. Japanese Folding Bike
I do not like sports but in order to motivate myself and to get around easier, I recently bought a recon Japanese folding bike from a dealer in Johor.

5. Uniqlo Selvedge Denim
I do not like washing jeans because I like dark colours, durable denims and strong contours.  Even famous jeans brands cannot match up to the workmanship of a Japanese 14oz Denim Uniqlo Selvedge Jeans. Priced at RM250, the nearest place to get it is Singapore.

6. iPhone 3GS
Needless to say, we should all know how good it is.

7. USA B&L System Ray-Ban Glasses
A rare find at the flea market, I got these glasses for a steal! Until the 80s, Ray-Ban glasses were made in the States by B&L. Now they’re made by the Italians who are doing a good job, but they still can’t compare to the original US-made ones.
