During Crossover’s 10th anniversary party, we discovered a sneak peek of the collaboration between the long standing local streetwear brand and Italian footwear company Diemme hidden behind frosted glass. Though it was difficult to discern the mysterious collection, it is now unveiled to be a pair of stylish slip-on loosely inspired by the chapters in Lars von Triers’ terrifying horror film Antichrist. These three words — pain, grief, and despair — are taken to their extreme definitions by the auteur, so to have them interpreted into a pair of shoes is intriguing. The interpretation can be found in the refined reptilian material used; just looking at the way the shoes are shot in the lookbook (and with the knowledge of the film plot), it evokes a sense of malevolence.
So remember, when you see these pair worn around town, think of the truly dark film that inspired it– a great conversation starter.
