Unfiltered beer, as God intended….
As Hunter S Thompson once said, “Good people drink good beer” and while most Malaysians are content with mainstream market choices, a whole world of microbreweries (indie beer-makers, if you will) have been waiting to be discovered. Discerning beer drinkers and thrill-a-holics, say hello to Craft Brews.

Started by a mysterious founder who simply wants to be described as “a hardcore beer lover who wants to introduce Malaysians to an entirely different range of unfiltered beer, as God intended”, while Craftbrews is not a microbrewery as such – draconian laws make it illegal to manufacture your own beer here – it does look like one with bronze piping and ingredients displayed inside.

Clientele Discerning beer lovers.

Music policy A cool mix of indie rock classics, dance music and even post-rock.

Drinks Microbrewery beers from RedDot (Czech Pilsner, Monster Green Lager, English Ale and Weizen Wheat Beer), Flying Dogs (Old Scratch Amber Lager, In-Heat Wheat Hefeweizen, etc) and Rogue (Brutal Bitter, Dead Guy, etc). Common beers on tap are also available including Hoegaarden and there’s even a green beer called Monster Green Lager with added spirulina. JUICE’s recommendation: Flying Dogs’ Snake Dog, an Indian pale ale that tastes like lychee. These unique beers come at a price though. Imported draft beers are about RM33/pint while common brands like Carlsberg are about RM28/pint.

Happy Hours Mon-Sat: 6pm- 8pm; Sun: 6pm-12mn. Throw on top of that “Wicked Hours” which run from 12nn-6pm daily.

Food Non-halal, but great companions to the brews. Chef Hans does a great job of making the food menu as equally riveting as the choice of beers. The caramelised roast pork is a must-try and the bacon-wrapped classic roast pork skewers (the perfect siew yoke-substitute) come close to heaven. If you’re a vegetarian, try the deep fried eggplant chips. Main courses include burgers, pastas, lamb shank and ribs.

Dress code Casual.

Door policy No cover charge.

Open Sun-Thu:12nn-12mn; Fri & Sat:12nn-1am. Kitchen closed from 2pm-5pm but the bar stays open. Wahey!
