Glenlivet continued to push the boundaries of flavour exploration and this time they gave consumers the chance to be the ultimate whiskey connoisseur with the ‘The Glenlivet Code’, a mysterious Single Malt Scotch Whisky that was released without any cask information or tasting notes.

Inspired by the iconic British Code breakers, the limited edition is a labyrinth of flavours that took whisky connoisseurs on a journey of discovery while also putting their Single Malt knowledge to the test.

Guests had to scan a code on the back of their bottle carton using the Shazam app to enter a virtual underground room.

To attend the closed tasting of The Glenlivet Code, guests had to first decode a word puzzle diagram on the invitation to get the name of the venue. The puzzle diagram consisted of numbers that ultimately represented an alphabet. Pretty cool, right?

Members of the media, The Guardians of The Glenlivet from the Malaysian Chapter, and winners from the public who participated in a Facebook contest were treated to an exquisite evening with the latest limited edition from the single malt that started it all.

Benedict Yong, Brand Manager of Pernod Ricard Malaysia shared his inspiration behind “The Glenlivet Code” that took whiskey lovers on a journey of decoding its mysterious taste.

Pernod Ricard Brand Manager for whiskies and malts, Benedict Yong said, “Our mysterious malt comes with a fun challenge for enthusiasts. Sensory challenges open up a window of connection not just with our understanding and appreciation of single malt whisky, but also with the community of whisky lovers at large.”

As always, maintaining exceptional quality is what The Glenlivet is famed for–The Glenlivet Code presents the brand’s smooth and fruity house style with some additional twists, just to give that extra moment of definitive pleasure.

Lionel Lau, The Glenlivet Brand Ambassador Malaysia talked about the history of the mysterious The Glenlivet Code

In The Glenlivet Code digital-augmented reality experience, whisky lovers were greeted by a hologram of The Glenlivet’s Master Distiller, Alan Winchester, who challenged them to decode the taste by selecting 4 aromas for the nose and 4 flavours for the palate from thousands of possible combinations.

After decoding flavours of the new whisky, participants were given a score which they could post on social media to see how they ranked against others. The official tasting notes won’t be revealed until the end of the year, just to give Single Malt enthusiasts the time to discover and enjoy the liquid themselves.

This year’s limited edition is a labyrinth of flavours that will test the senses of even the most discerning whisky drinker and we’re excited to invite consumers worldwide to take on the ultimate challenge by unlocking its mystery taste.
