There’s many street markets littered around KL, but only every quarterly does Chic Pop take to the streets and hordes of scene kids and bargain hunters turn out for this fashion bazaar. Never having been to one before, I was kind of expecting the standard issue of trinklets, fake sunnies and trashy you’d-never-wear-them-cos-they’re-sold-in-a-pasar–malam-esque thongs. However, the selection of vendors and brands that were selling products was the epitome of street fashion mixed with alternative accessories and vintage wear. And for bargain prices too!
It was a supremely hot day, yet throngs of girls came out in full force for what seemed to be like an event ‘to be seen’ at. I really, really enjoyed hunting through all the clothes racks, the jewellery that was being sold were all one of a kinds and there was a cool Lomography camera stall as well. I ended up getting a handful of jewellery, cute dresses and some tie dye singlets. My only regret was not bringing more money!
It was refreshing to see so many labels selling such a great selection of clothes for prices that are way below anything that you’d pay for at any given mall store. Lots of the labels only sell online otherwise, so make sure you head to the next Chic Pop Street Market to get ultimate bargains and the chicest wear.
