Celebrate Earth Hour, Easter at 1 Mont Kiara and be an Advocate for People with Autism
Weekends are a bore if you have nothing planned. Rather than staying at home, why not have some fun outside while advocating a good cause at these events at 1 Mont Kiara happening now ’til April.
The mall will host an art exhibition leading up to Earth Hour, celebrate Easter at a petting zoo (with bunnies present!) and conduct a morning workout session with Fitness First to raise awareness on Autism.
Eco Deco Art Exhibition and Earth Hour
1 Mont Kiara teams up with the students of Mont Kiara International School and Mind Space Upward Learning Centre to host the Eco Deco Art Exhibition which showcases our relationship with the environment. The exhibition will feature 20 paintings, 8 photographs and 2 sculptures that serve as a platform for students to showcase their concern with the world we live in.
The observance of Earth Hour will also take place at 1 Mont Kiara. Following the global tradition goes, the mall will reduce its electric consumption by dimming the lights from 8.30pm until 9.30pm on March 24.
Before going dark, there will be a bunch of interactive activities at 8pm with a dazzling magic show, a Q&A session for those who want to reduce their carbon footprint, a chance for shoppers to win prizes, and a variety of light shows–including a cool LED Lion Dance in the dark.
There’ll even be a Terrarium Making Workshop on March 24 and 25, where attendees can learn how to make their own miniature, self-contained gardens during the day.
Celebrate Easter with cute cuddly rabbits
While we won’t go into length on the religious history of Easter, we’re certainly glad for the proliferation of chocolate bunnies and painted Easter eggs during this festive period. And what better way to celebrate Easter than to cuddle cute little bunnies?
If you’ve splurged over RM350 at 1 Mont Kiara (or RM450 at the mall’s Village Grocer supermarket) on 7 and 8 April, don’t forget to exchange your receipts at the Concierge for tickets to the petting zoo (maximum of two allowed for each redemption)!
Alternatively, you could also buy individual tickets at RM20 each. Pretty worth it for the cuddles, if you ask us.
And here’s a fun way to go shopping with the whole family (an ensure you all don’t split up your own ways): Take part in the Easter Egg Hunt!
Children are invited to pair up with their parents (a maximum of four within a team). Each team will be given a list of tenant outlets at 1 Mont Kiara to find hidden cutouts of Easter eggs – take a selfie or wefie of yourselves, with the egg, and the tenant’s frontage and make their way back to the starting point to make a collage of your photos. 3 lucky winners will be selected at the end of the contest period to win prizes!
Rise up for autism
For all you Morning People, take note of this next event… On April 22, 1 Mont Kiara will be collaborating with Fitness First to host Ascension: Rise Up for A Cause, a fitness event that commemorates Autism Awareness Day (globally observed on April 2). The event’s name, Ascension is in reference to those who rise above their limitations, despite having to live with autism.
Registration will take place at 6am and the event will start at 7am at the mall’s rooftop, where participants are encouraged to dress in blue to show support for the cause. The entry fee is RM10, but donation of books or toys will also be accepted as a form of payment. The proceeds and donated items will go directly to The National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM).
There will be a 1-hour yoga session, followed by a Zumba session, and station games courtesy of Mind Space. All participants will have to bring their own yoga mats and towels for this event because seriously, you don’t want to share those private things.
At the end of Ascension, you will receive a goodie bag for your participation, which will also entitle you to a tax exemption via your donation to NASOM.
Bring your family and friends along so you won’t miss the special events that are happening this March and April at 1 Mont Kiara. For more information about the events, click here.
