If you know who Candace of Women and Women First is, then we’re happy to say that you’re our people, and that our interests are not as esoteric as we thought. Candace Devereaux is a fictional feminist book store co-owner acted by SNL alumnus Fred Armisen in his hit show Portlandia — our favourite sketch from the show, in fact. The popular character is known for her stern (and hilarious) feminist attitudes, who can sometimes be difficult and oblivious to conventional social mores. She’s now the author of a free audiobook entitled Portlandia Travelogue: The Brussels to Antwerp Express. In it, she describes in dramatic, corny detail of her romantic encounters while travelling in Berlin with plenty of funny interludes of her losing her cool.
