Thy daily bread….
Translated as “bread time”, Brotzeit is a fond Bavarian expression that refers to a traditional Bavarian meal consumed in a biergarten. Opened in October 2010 at Mid Valley Megamall’s outdoor boulevard by Singapore’s Garibaldi Group (there are outlets in VivoCity, Raffles City and 313@Somerset), Brotzeit’s German bier bar and restaurant serves up grassroots cuisine from the south-eastern state of Germany and a selection of premium German beers. Set against an au courant backdrop with a set up of wooden benches, long tables and an extensive bar counter to encourage socializing among parties, the staff is lovely and will throw in the odd German expressions to complete your experience.

Clientele Office crowd, beer drinkers and pork lovers.

Music policy Eclectic but predominantly downtempo.

Drinks Known for its exceptional quality, sweet taste, pale tint and smooth body Paulaner Munich is exclusive to Brotzeit. There are four major beers from Paulaner Munich on tap namely Weissbier, Weissbier Dunkel, Original Münchner Lager Dunkel and Original Münchner Urtyp, and a variety of specialty bottled beers like the Johann Auer Dunkle Weisse, Hacker-Pschorr Kellerbier Anno 1417, Hacker-Pschorr Münchner Gold, Hacker-Pschorr Sternweisse Weissbier, Thurn und Taxis Pilsner, Thurn und Taxis Roggen (Rye), Hopf Spezial Weisse and Hopf Eisweisse, as well as seasonal draft specials. Bavarian schnapps come in two flavors: Kirschwasser (cherry) and Zwetschgenwasser (plum).

Eats Offering the perfect pairing to your pint is an authentic menu prepared by Brotzeit’s Bavarian chef. The signature dish is the the oven-roasted Pork Knuckle, but also popular are German sausage favourites like the Original Weisswurst (Munich veal and pork sausage served with the German pretzel brezn), the Nürnberger (pork bratwurst with mashed potato and sauerkraut), Currywurst, a fast-food staple of sliced pork sausages with curry sauce, and pizza’s made with a Bavarian bread base. Having said that, the menu is varied enough that you don’t have to be a pork-lover or meat eater to love this place.
