Molek FMBreakdance Battle Of The Year Malaysia 2009 @ 1 Utama
The last 2 days of May 2009 saw breakdancers in the country battling it out during Battle of the Year Malaysia (BOTY) 2009 that took place at 1 Utama. It was also in conjunction with BOTY’s 20th anniversary worldwide, so JUICE knew that this was gonna be massive. With judges Katsu of Zulu Kingz from Japan, BruceLee of Gamblerz from Korea and Marcus “Epic-phlave” Tucker from the USA, you know this ain’t a game. Everybody came out under the sun to show love to our local b-boys.
1 Utama was buzzing with b-boy crew, friends and fans, and with Lazyr and Demon on the decks serving up the sounds to the movements. During the semi-finals, Giller Battle Crew went up against Project Elementz Crew and Wakaka Fever faced off Famous Crew. Finally it was Giller Battle Crew versus Wakaka Fever in the showdown, and in the end, Giller Battle Crew won best show for their mad skills. Kinobu won Best B-boy, so give it up!
Big ups to everyone who made it happen. Breakdancing don’t get enough love in Malaysia and they appreciate every chance they get to show off their skills. We need more breakdancing competitions and spots for them!
