The Big Day Out annual festival started in Sydney in 1992 and is held in multiple cities across Australia and New Zealand. It has since become one of the biggest live music festivals in the world featuring contemporary rock music, electronic music, mainstream international acts as well as their local best, with a line-up that usually reads like a who’s who of music. It is the Glastonbury of the southern hemisphere. 2010’s Big Day Out is to be held from 15 to 31 January and if past years are anything to go by it is gonna be one monster mash up.
2010’s Big Day Out will see Muse and Australia’s biggest rock band Powderfinger headline, while Lily Allen, Dizzee Rascal, Groove Armada, Ladyhawke and even The Mars Volta have already been lined up. But the going ain’t just for big acts. It’s your chance to catch smaller and lesser known bands like Mastodon, The Decemberists and The Horrors among others.
This is what’s on the menu, so far:
The Mars Volta
The Temper Trap
They’re only getting started…. So are you going? And who’s gonna take JUICE?
