It’s official! Belfast, Northern Ireland will play host to the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards this November (date to be announced). Taking over from Madrid who hosted the ceremony last year, the 2011 MTV EMAs will be packed with unprecedented performances and appearances, broadcast live from Belfast’s renowned Odyssey Arena.

Home to Snow Patrol and the legendary Van Morrison, Belfast’s vibrant nightlight and compelling music scene is known for fostering emerging artists and turning out international chart toppers. Now, with one of the world’s biggest nights in music happening right in their backyard, Belfast will have the opportunity to showcase its music heritage to the world, not to mention leverage on the major boost this event will bring to its economy.

Last year’s EMAs saw the likes of Shakira, Katy Perry and Kanye West all performing with Lady GaGa coming out as the big winner of the night.

We can’t wait for this year’s! For more updates on the EMAs, log on to www.mtv.co.uk.
