Cease To Begin is only the second album to their name but Band of Horses has joined The Shins and Iron & Wine as Sub Pop’s triumvirate of good indie rock. Despite Matt Brooke’s absence, front man Ben Bridwell is entirely on form without his right-hand man. The vocals still oscillate from euphoria to anguish, and the album still follows the same modus operandi, moving from tender (“Window Blues“) to turbulent (“Is There a Ghost“) with ease. They’re not breaking any new ground here but that’s perfectly fine, we like it this way.
