Live music every day….
Having existed for more than a decade, Backyard has carved itself a spot in Malaysia’s Hangout Hall of Fame for its live music and reasonably-priced beers. Though it has its regulars who come here to unwind, have a pint and tuck into The Grill’s offerings like its famed Chicken Curry (RM10.90) and Black Pepper Lamb Cubes (RM16.90), it also draws a keen but more mature audience seeking live music on a daily basis.

Malaysian rock and pop stalwarts Amir Yusof, Julian Mokhtar and The Alleycats are some of the talented musicians who have graced its recently-expanded stage but regulars also stay to catch the live footie, F1 races, cricket and rugby screened on the big screen on stage and the venue’s four 32-inch LCD screen TVs. Decorated with sports memorabilia from floor-to-ceiling, Backyard has two 8-ball British Pool tables which can be the focal point of some pretty intense but friendly competition.

Clientele A more mature audience, although depending on who is up on stage, rare sightings of a young ‘uns have been known to occur.

Music policy There’s live music everyday here with Backyard’s stage attracting some of the local scene’s best jobbing musicians like Paul Ponnudurai, Amir Yusof, Vijay & Albert, Rafique Rashid, Julian Mokhtar, Lewis Pragasam, The Alleycats, Farid Ali, the list goes on…. Every October though November, Backyard hosts JAM Fest in memory of long-time pub-singer Jairus Anthony.

Drinks The usual mod cons, plus Tiger, Guinness and Kilkenny are available on tap with a full pint priced at RM19.90.

Happy Hours Sun-Wed: All night; Thu-Sat: 5pm-9pm. Tiger RM10.40/mug, RM15.90/pint.

Eats The menu is as muhibbah as its clientele and mixes up light bites and heavier fare from British pub grub to local staples like noodles (RM11.90) and fried rice (RM10.90-RM12.90).  On Saturdays Backyard fires up its barbeque pit.

Door policy None.

Dress code Anything goes.
