Bacardi B-Live @ Maison

We gotta admit, when it comes to pushing the boundaries of dance music, Bacardi is one dedicated player with enough cash to bring down some pretty awesome DJs from around the globe. Last year, Daniel Bailey played mind games with his razor-edged house mixes and this year, Maison again played host to B-Live with Rebekah, another UK DJ with too much music on her hands that she has to dish it out massive quantities of it.
Last January, we popped by B-Live for a spell and were totally charmed by this lady working the decks. The continent-hopping Rebekah has been working up club frenzies from Brazil and South Africa to Dubai and Russia for the last few years and we can see why. Not only are her tribal-tech-house mixes and electro sensibilities air-tight alibis to her ability, this model-cum-DJ is the finest thing in the DJ console since the latest turntables from Pioneer. We also got a taste of her new EP ‘Freakonomics/Neo’, so pick one up if you missed her live.
Victor G and Eugene, DJ celebs in their own right, built the crescendo to suitable proportions for Rebekah to jump right in and continued the club energy on an impossible plateau. The hormone-fuelled crowd were euphoric on the beat, the babe and the booze. You just couldn’t beat the vibe.
Bacardi B-Live went down on Friday 25 January at Maison. This report was published in the March 2008 issue of JUICE.
