Folk Rocker-Educator, Azmyl Yunor Returns To Japan on a Five-City Tour
If you’re working or studying in Japan and missing home, an interesting local indie artiste will be dropping by soon.
Malaysian folk singer-songwriter, Azmyl Yunor will be returning to the land of the rising sun later this month. His last tour in Japan was about 10 years ago.
This time around, the troubadour will be playing eight shows in five cities. Below are the listings:
30 Jan @ Alchemy, Kobe
1 Feb @ Harmony Tamatsukuri, Osaka
2 Feb @ The Blarney Stone, Osaka
4 Feb @ Mingle, Kyoto
6 Feb @ Parlwr, Nagoya
7 Feb @ Tokyo University of the Arts, Tokyo
8 Feb @ ShowBoat, Tokyo
9 Feb @ Ruby Room, Tokyo
Speaking to JUICE over the phone, the artiste said, “It’s important to wander and get lost to recharge your soul. Touring is already a big part of my life now and this is a continuation of my tours in the past years (locally, US, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore) and I’ve several planned up my sleeve with other like-minded troubadours.”
If you’re not familiar with the solo artiste, then you might have seen him perform with similar-hearted indie cohorts such as Ben’s Bitches, Maharajah Commission, R.O.A.R.M., and Ciplak.
Azmyl, who is an academic and educator by daytime, will also be giving a lecture-performance at Tokyo University of the Arts in Tokyo on 7 February.
Constantly on the road, whether its back in Malaysia or faraway lands like Memphis, Tennessee, the provocative artiste is a must-see if you haven’t witnessed his amusing takes on life, freedom, and the Malaysian identity.
