Attention Manga-ka, It’s Manga Attack!

Behold, the National Manga Competition 2010 has returned! The first was held last year which was of great success, and now the second edition is back in search for the next batch of Manga artists. Ganbate-ne!

Back in 2007, the Japanese made more than 400 billion yen through the Manga industry. That’s a whole lot of moolah! So in line with the nation’s Vision 2020 ‘The Way Forward’ , Malaysia has decided to invest in this industry. What’s there to lose anyway?

The first National Manga Competition held in 2009 received more than 150 entries and was opened to all Malaysians aged 7 and above, same as this year. There are 3 winners from 3 categories: Primary (7-12 years), Secondary (13-17years) and Amateur (18 years onwards). 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners took home RM3000, RM1000 and RM500 respectively.

On 30 June, Canon hosted the launch for the National Manga Competition 2010 chaired by HE Masahiko Horie, the Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia at Canon Showroom, Saujana Resort in Shah Alam. It marks the beginning of this competition. 30th November 2010 is the closing date. That should be enough time for you manga-kas to even prepare a party in advance to celebrate your possible victory. Now get your sketching materials ready. You could be the next Inoue Takehiko (Slam Dunk), Rumiko Takahashi (Inuyasha) Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball and DBZ) or even Masashi Kishimoto (Naruto and Naruto Shippuden)!
