Arthur’s Day @ Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach
Arthur’s Day took place on the 24th of September as part of a worldwide celebration to commemorate Arthur Guinness’ signing of a 9000 year old lease on the St. James’ Gate Brewery in Dublin 251 years ago. Even though Timbaland wasn’t able to perform at the event and the fact that it was pouring with rain didn’t deter 8000 fans flocking to the concert.
The atmosphere was thick with excitement and anticipation at Arthur’s Day. First up on the sprawling stage was turntablist extraordinaire DJ Fuzz, who got the crowd pumping with his club thumping hits. Following him was rnb singer Melissa Indot, who crooned to the crowds with her sweet, sultry vocals. Pop Shuvit then got onto the stage and got the crowd exploding and opened for the gorgeous Mizz Nina. The singer performed alongside hip hop artiste Colby O’Donis and together sang ‘What You Waiting For?’. Thai sensation hip hop trio Thaitanium then performed an explosive rnb and rap set, followed by  Sean Kingston who made the crowd wild. Performing hits such as ‘Beautiful Girl’ and ‘Eenie Meenie’ had everyone jumping up and singing along.
Flo Rida took about 40 minutes to get on stage, during which the crowd started getting a bit antsy. However, when he finally did come on, he commanded the masses with his entourage of rappers and DJs with ‘Low’ and current chart topper ‘Club Can’t Handle Me Now’ (which he sang not once, but twice!) amongst a host of his other club anthems.
To say the least, it was a mad frenzy being in the crowd when Flo Rida started throwing out autographed towels and candy, we’re surprised there wasn’t a stampede! The crowd were so energised and having such a great time that more or less everyone had forgotten that they were either soaked in Guinness or rain! It was a massive night and ended with huge white beach balls being passed around the crowd and an amazing firework display. What a great way to celebrate the 251st anniversary of St. James’ Gate Brewery!
