Are you ASEAN’s Best Band? 2010

In collaboration with MTV Asia and AirAsia’s new online global ticketing service, has registered a whopping 737,870 votes from all over ASEAN, and the top 3 bands have been identified as Golden Dragon (Indonesia), Sixty Nine (Thailand) and Pancake 80 (Philippines). The winner is to be announced on 16 July at Plaza Mont Kiara. Also happening is a concert featuring performances by Colby O Donis, Mizz Nina, Hujan and Thaitanium. Woots!

Unsigned bands within the ASEAN region registered for redAmp’s ‘Are You ASEAN’s Best Band?’ and submitted videos of their best tracks. 10 out of a total of 2500 videos were shortlisted and the bands’ profiles were uploaded online for fans to vote, vote, vote!

The tough decision was made on July 7 and now only 3 band are in the running for the grand prize of a RM50,000 recording and distribution deal. The 3 bands are Thai band Sixty Nine who play funky sexy jazz , Pancake 80 from Philippines who play alternative rock, and 7-piece band Indonesian band Golden Dragon who make music in Mandarin. A wildcard band has also been chosen by the judges, and will only to be revealed on that day itself.

On the same day as the final showdown, there will also be spectacular music performances by Colby O’Donis and MizzNina, alternative rockers Hujan and Thailand’s hip hop outfit Thaitanium together with speaker-cracking club sets by DJ Fuzz. Hosting the event are 8TV Quickie’s Belinda Chee and hottie MTV VJ Utt. So, who will be crowned redAmp’s ASEAN’s best band? Stick around to find out.
