Baltimore avant-garde psychedelic outfit Animal Collective has been evolving over the course of their last 8 albums. They hit a hallucinogenic high with their 9th and come out sounding like The Grateful Dead discovering samplers and Es in the disco. This highly anticipated album, named after their favourite 60s rock arena, is strangely pop-focused for an experimental band. Subtly melodies abound from the blissful ‘My Girls’ to the Pet Sounds-era of ‘Summertime Clothes’. Already hailed by many as the best album of the year so far, this summer’s going to be filled with bright colours and weird sounds.
