Again, PAS Demands Malaysians to Treat Dr. Zakir Naik Like a Lost Puppy
In case y’all didn’t know, India has been requesting for the return of its citizen and controversial Muslim preacher Dr. Zakir Naik. He is needed to investigate his alleged terror funding and money laundering cases by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
According to media reports, ever since he fled from India, the 51-year-old found “home” in Malaysia as he was rewarded PR status, which was given to him five years ago. Now, PAS is demanding us Malaysians to defend Dr. Zakir Naik and refuse the demands to extradite him to India.
As usual, the chief of The Islamist Opposition party, Nasruddin Hassan, stated that Dr. Zakir is a well-respected individual and insists that claims of Dr. Zakir radicalising or preaching terrorism was untrue.
NIA has already submitted a charge-sheet on the fugitive preacher to the Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi. India will be sending a formal extradition request to Malaysia and to Saudi Arabia where he reportedly has gained citizenship.
Maybe it’s time for Malaysia to decide whether it wants to be a refuge for religious extremists or a responsible member of the United Nations and abide by its legal obligations. Just a thought.
