A Round-Up of PJ and KL’s Best Ramly Burger Joints for Post-Party Comedowns
It’s all fun and games in the club until our stomachs start feeling funny after the fifth (or even only) glass of gin and tonic. We might have our own pick of poison when it comes to alcohol, but when it comes down to food, Malaysians flock to mamak stores like it’s our only hope to cure a night of heavy drinking. Though I’m not sure if eating after a party comedown is of substantial help, most people still buy into the whole “must eat after drinking” myth because you can never go wrong with food anyway. So lo and behold, some of the best Ramly Burger joints in the city centre that’s gonna make you give fast food burgers a break.
This list is inspired by Fun N’ Taste.

Gerai Burger @ SS2 Mamak Square, PJ
Known more as Gerai Burger dan Nasi Lemak Utara (last we heard the owners are related), the burgers here are said to be more scrumptious with an extra layer of cheese. Located at SS2’s Mamak Square, you can even top up your cheesy burgers by adding on other types of food onto your table from the diverse selection of stalls there.
Opening hours: 5pm – 2am
Burger-Mbira @ Damansara Utama, PJ
This beauty you’re seeing is from another stellar burger joint in the Uptown area (give Brother John a rest already), located right in front of Kopitiam Bintang. Unlike its competitor, Burger-Mbira definitely deserves more cred for its generous content at a pretty reasonable price. Unlike the usual Ramly Burger, these are made special with the addition of ingredients like sliced beef ham, hash browns, and so much more.
Opening hours: 7pm – 4am
OM Burger @ Ampang Jaya, KL
This is one of those OG stalls that’s connected to a 7-11 (one true pairing), so it shouldn’t be a challenge to find. With all the upgrade on Ramly Burgers, it’s good to revisit a good old sloppy one and OM Burger’s got it. Known as one of the juiciest and sloppiest burgers around, this is where you go if you want to fully devour a burger like it’s your last day on earth.
Opening hours: 7pm – 5am
Zam Burger @ Taman Danau Kota, KL
My kind of patty would be crispy on the outside but tender on the inside. If you’re on the other end and there’s nothing more you enjoy than a nice thick beef patty, then Zam Burger is your jam. Plus, the Chicken Chop burger is comparable if not more delicious than a McDonald’s Spicy Chicken McDeluxe.
Opening hours: 6pm – 1am
Burger Bakar Kaw Kaw Original @ Wangsa Maju/Kota Damansara/Puchong/Subang/Ampang
Burger Bakar is an update of a Ramly Burger, replacing the mass-produced frozen patties with homemade ones, but that doesn’t mean we don’t like it any more or less. We understand that driving to a specific area for a fix can be quite a nuisance, so Burger Bakar Kaw Kaw is your best bet in terms of location and uncompromising taste. Already popular among the masses, Kaw Kaw’s signature Beef Beaconizer is one of the store’s must-try. While it’s now a franchise with branches located in Kota Damansara, Puchong, Subang, and Ampang, nothing beats going to the OG stall in Wangsa Maju.
Opening hours: 6.30pm – 2am
