This isn’t a cover of the unmistakable Lennon song, but we imagine that Rakei wants us to think of things in a new light. Sure, there are a few similarities lyrically — in terms of it being a song that we’ve interpreted to be a little bit about peace, love, and self-actualisation. Musically, on the other hand, it’s soulful and showcases the 20-year-old Australian native’s beautiful voice very well indeed as it slowly builds towards a rousing climax before ending with a bluesy guitar/drum break.
