Amanda Harper’s stage name evokes the feelings that come across when we listen to ‘$IGN$’ – it’s way more intense than your run-of-the-mill dream pop tunes à la M83 or Postiljonen, even if it combines similar elements. It brings with it a smoky flavour that we could see hitting a club at full speed, even if the tune isn’t something that we’d regularly listen to on a daily basis. A lighter take on the song might have made it a little easier on the ears. She’s got the skills, but can they pay the bills? We’ll keep our ears open for more.
