Zid’s Mystical Musings
Text The New Forward
Combining mysticism, cultural references, and conflict, the works of Yazid (aka Zid) provide a broad narrative range.
While mostly made up of meandering thoughts jot down in illustrated form, Zid’s artworks tend to revolve around human superficiality. The people in his illustrations often take on an abstract form, making it less about a figure to appreciate on its own and more about a storytelling process in a still format.
A devout aficionado of the symbolist art movement from the late 19th century, Zid believes that ideas (in art) are best delivered through indirect means such as metaphors.
In his own words, “I produce intentions and not images that are pleasing to the eye.”
