JW Black Circuit Lounge Chat: DJ Nadine
Miss Universe Malaysia 2010/2011 has got some new tricks up her sleeve. Now she’s a disc jockey! That’s right, another one in the list that makes up the line up for Johnnie Walker Black Circuit Lounge party happening tonight! The busy lady managed to spare some time to answer our burning questions!
What inspired you to go from being Miss Universe Malaysia to becoming a DJ?
Miss Universe gave me my first introduction into the entertainment industry, it was then up to me to discover where my strongest passion lay. Music has always driven me thus my transition from beauty queen to DJ was a natural progression.
How come you don’t have a stage name?
Everyone has asked me this question! Many people told me I had to have a stage name if I wanted to be a DJ, however I refuse to take a name because if I had to, I’d rush and half heartedly pick one then a few months from now I may dislike it. Having said that, the right name may come to me tomorrow, or a year from now. Till then DJ Nadine stays!
5 things you can’t live without, and why?
Laptop – It connects me to the world around me, esp. in times when I’m traveling and away from loved ones.
Hard drive – (with all my music) – You don’t want to have an encounter with me if I didn’t have any of my music anymore!
Mascara – It’s about the only make up I use as everyday wear.
My old ripped jeans – Because they are good for any occasion.
Camera – Miss Universe taught me that every moment in life is precious. Moments you can never get back but you can always revisit, relive and stories retold through pictures.
What do you think about the DJ scene in Kuala Lumpur so far?
Music is ever evolving, I believe the music scene and the appreciation of different types of music has broadened in the past ten years in KL and it’s amazing to see DJ’s move to a platform they never have before. I want to be here to grow with this changing scene and help educate music to everyone in Malaysia.
When was the last time you cried, and what was it about?
I bawled my eyes out just a week ago when I sent my best friend off to Singapore where she is starting her new job. I cried when she first told me and it still brings me to tears having her away. (Laughs) I sound like such a baby! I promise I don’t cry that often.
What can we expect from you at Johnnie Walker Black Circuit Lounge?
Fun, crazy, sexy new music. Attending the Black Circuit Lounge is one thing but being able to set the mood, entertain, sustain and hype the crowd is a whole other world to me. I can’t wait to get on the 1s and 2s, tear it up, and make you scream.
