Heineken Green Room returns to stamp out the ennui of everyday life, or as Beth Ditto puts it “well bring it on, bring it on”, at KL Live on 5 October. Since the event’s debut in 2008, the eager party goers in us have marked down the dates counting down to the next time we can unleash the party hardy spirit.

Dedicated to bringing cutting edge music to our humble shores, Heineken wants to provide a platform for music lovers to gather, have heart to heart discussions (exchanging saliva in the process) and generally enjoy a good night out on the town.

Painting the town green this time will be indie band Gossip from the US and the Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, oi, oi, oi trio Art vs. Science. Both are headliners in their own rights, the blend of Gossip’s dancefloor music plus Art vs. Science’s hardcore live electro will have things moving along just fine.

Gossip became indie darlings after their songs ‘Heavy Cross and ‘Standing in the Way of Control’ topped the charts worldwide. Front woman, Beth Ditto, has taken the band name to heart and given the indie scene something to talk about. She has changed the perception of indie chic (goodbye skinny jeans and greasy hair) by glaming it up tongue in cheek style and rubbing shoulders with godfather of fashion, Unkle Karl.

The quirky boys down under on the other hand, are also heavyweights on the indie circuit. Formed in the harbour city of Sydney, their album ‘The Experiment’ has received 4 out of 5 from Rolling Stones magazine and is considered a festival favourite. With a bass-heavy electro beat emphasis, these are definitely the boys you want at your party.

Joining the two international acts will be our equally talented local artists. Mini Compo, the electronic punk pop brainchild of LapSap star DJ Xu and Malaysian underground artist, Jit Woei of Nightlife Camera will be making its debut alongside Twilight Actiongirl. Also playing their set of back-to-back electro and hard-edged dance beats is a collab between Hypeembeats and Jeehoe.

This year’s Heineken Green Room is all about pushing/ignoring the boundaries set by the preconceptions of live music by creating a new quality one-of-a-kind night out. From our experience (referring to past Facebook albums – what was I doing in the picture???), we promise that you and your party people will be blown away.

Heineken Green Room is on 5 October starting 9pm at KL Live. To get more info click here and get tix here.
