Legendary Rolling Stone frontman Mick Jagger has teamed up with a star-studded lineup for a new group, befittingly called Super Heavy. The idea was proposed by Dave Stewart from Eurythmics via phone call to Jagger’s home in Jamaica.

Several brainstorming sessions and around-the-world phone calls later, soul songbird Joss Stone, Damian Marley (the youngest son of THE Bob Marley), and award-winning composer A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) settled in to complete the lineup. Jagger describes their upcoming debut as a wide-range musical convergence of reggae, soul, rock, ballad, and ‘Indian music in Urdu’.

Expect their album release in September and in the mean time, check for updates at davestewart.com/category/music/super-heavy
