Bear Hands
If you have a band and were former classmates with MGMT, pesky comparisons are bound to arise. But instead of being another post-punk, experimental psych act in Brooklyn (ie. hype central), Bear Hands seamlessly craft their own brand of indie with humorous lyrics and light, funky grooves.
Frontman Dylan Rau’s vocal talent goes from Isaac Brock-squalling on more aggressive tracks to Andrew VanWyngarden-squeaking on softer ones while the band experiments with sugary dancefloor beats and quirky messiness. With Pitchfork calling their debut album Burning Bush Supper Club “the album Congratulations should have been”, Bear Hands might have chosen the right college to go to after all.
