There’s so much talk about Saturday nights at Rootz, so we had to go see what the fuss is all about. It was also the night when Bangkok Invaders, uhm, invades The Get Up at Rootz with DJ Cza and DJ Ash, so we knew it would be rocking.

Got to the spot on the rooftop of Lot 10 and man it was breathtaking! We saw a herd of people at one spot and knew it was the club already. The queue was crazy, but luckily we were on the guestlist queue. It took hella long to reach us. So they missed me out on the guestlist and I couldn’t even use my media power, but luckily DJ Cza came to the rescue.

Man, the entrance was mad bright with mirrors all over. You get the left entrance for general entry and the right entrance for VIPs. DJ Cza took us through the backdoor to the other side of Rootz. When we got it, the spot was already pumping and resident DJ Ash was dishing out the classic hip hop and R&B wit SonaOne playing hypeman. Loves it!

At around 1am, the Bangkok Invaders took over and the crowd went bananas. A lot of commercial hip hop and those electro-fused tracks were dropped. It’s a winner with the crowd, but I wasn’t feeling it. Deejay Ono and Dandee definitely turned up the heat in Rootz that night. At about 3am, DJ Cza took on the decks with a mix of classic and Top 40 to end the night.

The night definitely started great with DJ Ash’s selection, but was a little bit blah when Bangkok Invaders took over with the typical party choons. Perhaps it was only that night. The MC of The Get Up, Joe Flizzow, who was away that weekend, tells us it’s usually all straight-up classic hip hop ish. We gotta go back there again.

The Get Up featuring Bangkok Invaders took place at Rootz on Saturday, 5 December 2009. Head on over to www.rootz.com.my for more. More pics here.
