Tissanai Brings Phuket’s Underground Groove to KL

Thailand’s underground electronic scene gets a KL visit this week as Tissanai heads down from Phuket for the NoMind Records showcase at The Iron Fairies on Saturday, 29 August.

A DJ, producer, and one of the key figures behind Phuket’s underground scene, Tissanai, whose real name is Tissanai Jombhrom, is the co-founder of DJ collective Rec. ’n Cue and founder of NoMind Records, a label built around championing Thai electronic talent.

His own sound leans into groovy, funky, and rhythm-forward house, with sets that move between different shades of electronic music without getting too precious about genre. His productions include tracks such as ‘Mosquito’ and ‘Tower A 70’, while more recent releases like ‘Sawasdeekrub’ and ‘Puntue Robot’ have further established his groove-heavy approach.

Beyond the DJ booth, Tissanai’s bigger contribution has been helping build a platform for Thailand’s electronic community. Through Rec. ’n Cue and NoMind Records, he has helped connect artists from Phuket and beyond with a wider underground audience, making him as much a scene-builder as a selector.

Now, he brings that Phuket energy to KL for one night, joining local selectors Madrose, Alam & Billy C, and Hakim & Jo for the NoMind Showcase. Expect a night built around funky grooves, house rhythms, and plenty of movement on the dancefloor.
