4 Israelis Arrested: Labubu Pills, Loud Parties & a Very Bad Trip on Koh Phangan

What started as a loud villa party on Koh Phangan ended with four Israelis in handcuffs and Thai police holding up pills shaped like Labubu dolls.

Tourist police raided a luxury house on the island after locals complained about noise and a steady flow of suspicious foreign guests coming and going throughout Friday. When officers moved in, the four men inside tried to bolt. None of them made it very far.

Inside the villa, police found cocaine, ecstasy (MDMA), and a particularly dangerous polydrug known in the party scene as “candy.” The pills were moulded to look like Labubu, the popular designer toy. Cute on Instagram, lethal in real life.

According to Koh Phangan district chief Paisit Thongcherm, the Labubu-shaped pills contained high concentrations of MDMA mixed with other substances including ketamine, cocaine, and caffeine. That cocktail significantly increases the risk of overdose and can trigger sudden cardiac arrest.

Thai authorities have been warning about cartoon/toy-shaped combination drugs since last year, including Labubu and Doraemon pills. Officials have flagged concerns not just about their potency, but about their appearance, which could make them appealing to younger users. Some versions reportedly contain MDMA and ketamine mixed with diazepam, a potentially fatal combination.

The four men have been charged with possession and use of Category 1 and 2 narcotics. Authorities confirmed their visas will be revoked, followed by deportation.

Another reminder that Thailand’s party islands may look carefree, but the law, and the chemistry, don’t play around.
