Casio Pays Homage to ‘Back to the Future’ With DeLorean-Inspired Watch

If you’ve ever dreamt of owning the DeLorean from the cult-classic franchise Back to the Future, or if you’ve ever unironically muttered the words, “Where we’re going, we don’t need roads”, then you’ll definitely appreciate Casio’s latest timepiece: the CA-500WEBF-1A.

The special edition digital watch celebrates Back to the Future’s 40th anniversary, and it’s every bit as charmingly retro as the film that inspired it.

A rework of a time-tested favourite

The watch uses the iconic CA-500 as a design base, making it instantly recognisable as the calculator watch that defined geek chic in the 1980s.

At first glance the CA-500WEBF looks like a prop straight out of Doc Brown’s lab. The watch’s face is designed to mimic the DeLorean’s taillights and its instantly recognisable “OUTATIME” license plate.

The CA-500WEBF-1A is refreshingly analogue (yes, despite being a digital watch) in the age of smartwatches. It’s a wearable tribute to an era when imagination was quite literally limitless, and time travel seemed almost within reach.

It’s not just a watch to fans of the trilogy; it’s a tiny time travel machine on your wrist, a nostalgic wink to those who believe that style and science fiction go hand in hand.

Sure, it won’t send your hurtling through time, but it’ll certainly take you back to when neon lights, spell-binding synth sountracks, and movie magic ruled the future.
