If National Day usually means parades, fireworks, and waving little flags under the hot sun, House of OMA is here to flip the script.

This 31 August, OMA is throwing a full-day bender for the soul. Think caffeine, ink, booze, and Bornean fire that will make you rethink what patriotism tastes like. Forget sterile heritage showcases, this is about culture: alive, evolving, and buzzing under one roof.

☕ 12:00 p.m.: Coffee And Cinnamon

The day kicks off with brews by C.OMA (@calvintcv), which means you are getting the good stuff. Not your sad office pantry cuppa, but specialty-grade, jitter-inducing rocket fuel. Pair it with sinful cinnamon rolls from Snatch Bakery (@snatch.bakery): S’mores, Strawberries and Cream, or a Blueberry Cheesecake roll that will sugar-shock you into euphoria. Freedom tastes a lot like butter and frosting apparently.

️ 2:00 p.m.: Flash Day Tattoos

Here’s where it gets juicy. OMA is rolling out Iban-inspired flash tattoos, original designs drawn just for the day. It is first come first served, so if you are bold and punctual, you could walk out permanently branded with a piece of Borneo’s spirit.

Not feeling spontaneous? Book the design for another day. Either way, this is about wearing National Day on your skin, not just waving it on a stick.

6:00 p.m.: A Taste Of Borneo

By evening, things get primal. The spotlight shifts to Ai Tabas and Tajau Borneo, who are bringing Sarawak’s kitchen heat straight to Kuala Lumpur. We are talking BBQ pork so smoky it could have been kissed by the rainforest itself, Terung Asam chicken with a sour kick that cuts through everything, and the iconic Midin, stir-fried jungle fern that tastes like freedom and crunch.

Wash it down with tuak cocktails, handcrafted rice wine that dances dangerously between sweet, heady, and a touch of ‘How did I suddenly agree to a tattoo?’.

Freedom, Ink, And Alcohol (In That Order)

OMA’s National Day is not about nostalgia. It is about living, breathing culture, Borneo flavours on your tongue, tuak in your bloodstream, and maybe a new tattoo stinging on your arm. Freedom here is not symbolic, it is sensory.

So come hungry, come caffeinated, maybe a little reckless. By midnight, you might not remember the national anthem word for word, but you will know what freedom tastes like, and it is spiced, fermented, caffeinated, and permanently etched under your skin.
