Southeast Asia’s Ice Cream Scene Is Getting A Much-Needed Makeover

There’s a quiet revolution happening in the freezer aisle.

Across Southeast Asia, health-conscious dessert lovers are ditching sugar bombs and dairy-heavy indulgences in favour of something that doesn’t spike their blood sugar, or their guilt.

With growing awareness around diabetes, lactose intolerance, and general wellness, today’s consumers want treats that are lighter on sugar, fat, and calories, but still taste like a celebration, not a compromise.

Enter the era of smarter scoops: Plant-based delights made with coconut and almond milk, low-sugar pints sweetened with stevia and erythritol, and calorie-conscious creations that still bring the flavour punch. But here’s the catch: a lot of these “healthier” options taste… well, healthy. And not in a good way.

This is where Indulge Creamery flips the script.

Founded by former investment banker and eternal snack enthusiast Jennifer Lee, and her equally driven co-founder Don, Indulge Creamery set out to do the impossible: Make ice cream that’s as indulgent as it is nutritious. No shortcuts, no weird aftertastes, and definitely no sad, icy textures masquerading as gelato.

Jennifer, fed up with late-night cravings ending in disappointment, took matters into her own hands. But the journey wasn’t exactly a fairy tale. Their first consultant ghosted them (like actually, poof, vanished into the void).

No plan, no product, just sheer determination. So, they rolled up their sleeves, teamed up with food scientists, industry pros, and an Italian technical director (because, of course), and churned out something magical.

The path wasn’t smooth. High-protein formulas caused technical meltdowns. Machines couldn’t handle the new recipes. But they stuck with it, determined to create an ice cream that didn’t ask you to choose between delicious and nutritious. The result? Premium, protein-rich pints made with high-quality dairy and bursting with legit, satisfying flavours.

So what’s in the tub?

  • Low-calorie, low-sugar recipes with no artificial nasties

  • High-protein dairy options to fuel your post-gym reward or Netflix binge

  • Flavours that actually reflect your tastebuds: matcha, roasted black sesame, cold brew coffee, Alphonso mango, Vietnamese coffee, and yes—Musang King durian

  • Halal-certified and dairy-free picks for the plant-based crew

Where other brands overcompensate with extra sugar to fix texture or mask blandness, Indulge Creamery keeps it real. It’s indulgence done mindfully—flavour-forward and health-forward, with no sacrifices. Whether you’re powering through a workout or just want a guilt-free midnight snack, this is the treat you’ve been holding out for.

Meet The Founders

Don, Indulge Creamery’s CEO, is as much about clean living as he is about creating standout brands. A longtime Asia resident, he’s spent 25 years here falling in love with the culture, food, and people. He’s also the mind behind big names like Bonne Maman and Evian, so this isn’t his first rodeo.

An avid tennis player, swimmer, and wellness advocate, Don brings his passion for health into everything he does. He crossed paths with Jennifer while gathering market insights, and together, they cooked up the idea of a uniquely Asian, ridiculously delicious, healthy ice cream brand that could walk the walk.
