Fresh off the viral success of her breakout single ’21st Century Cool Girl’, Malaysia’s own rising alt-pop icon Chloe Qisha is back with a brand new banger — ‘Sex, Drugs & Existential Dread’.

Yes, that’s the title. Yes, it’s just as brilliant as it sounds.

This marks Chloe’s second release of 2025, and it’s yet another glittery, groovy anthem that blends shimmery future pop with a cheeky dose of disco-funk — a combo that’s quickly become Chloe’s signature sound.

The music video? Think lo-fi intimacy meets domestic daydream. It’s shot entirely from the POV of a mystery partner, watching Chloe roll around her apartment being her irresistibly chaotic self. A love letter to staying in and overthinking everything.

So how did ‘Sex, Drugs & Existential Dread’ come to be?

Chloe explains, “Last year, me, Rob Milton, and Mary Weitz were listening to Ian Dury’s ‘Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll’, and Mary joked, ‘What would the modern version of this be?’

“We started throwing out stuff like ‘Sex, Drugs and Yoga’, ‘Sex, Drugs and Green Juice’ — and then someone said ‘Existential Dread’. It started as a joke, and then suddenly we were writing a whole song about it.

“It’s a perfect fit.” Chloe continues, “At my core, I’m a homebody. I’m happiest rotting on my couch with my cats. But obviously, I’m also deeply anxious about everything all the time. So, you know — the song’s basically me in a nutshell.”

Chloe first stunned audiences with her debut live shows in London and Paris last year.

This March, she’s playing two sold-out headline gigs at Manchester’s Deaf Institute and London’s Omeara. She’s also set to take the stage at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton this May, with a full UK and EU tour lined up from April to October.

Since launching her career just last summer, Chloe’s been on a fast track to pop stardom. Her debut EP has already racked up over 5.5 million streams, with more than 7 million across her catalogue. Her last single premiered on BBC Radio 1’s ‘Future Pop’, and she’s had ongoing support from BBC Radio 1, British Vogue, ELLE, NME, Rolling Stone, GQ, and too many others to name without sounding like a brag.

The Malaysian-born, UK-based singer-songwriter is also a self-taught multi-instrumentalist with a master’s degree in communications, a psych background, and a knack for crafting addictive pop songs with bite.

Her music is chic and polished on the surface, but always hiding something a little darker, a little cheekier — kind of like Chloe herself.
