Reebok Celebrates 40 Years of the ‘Club C 85’ With Signature Vintage Flair
Reebok’s Club C 85 is a sneaker that basically defines the brand for many people.
It’s not a surprise, considering how versatile the silhouette is. It’s got good looks and timeless charm, something proven true by its consistent popularity over the last 40 years.
In celebration of the sneaker’s 40 years, Reebok has released a limited edition Club C 85 Vintage model, paying homage to the sneaker that started it all.
A blast from the past
As its name implies, the Reebok Club C 85 was first released in 1985. Initially marketed as a tennis shoe, the sneaker gradually became synonymous with British streetwear, offering people a reliable, comfortable shoe that was easily accessible, price-wise.
To this day, the Club C 85 is still an affordable option in an endless sea of RM700+ sneakers, and it comes in a whole bunch of colourways to suit everyone’s personality.
For the 40th Anniversary pair, Reebok has honoured the model’s original silhouette while adding material upgrades that help it stand out in the 21st Century.
Featuring a white full-grain garment leather upper, the shoes have contrasting Reebok logos (in true blue) along the lateral side for some extra pop. Paying respect to the sneakers’ roots are translucent gum soles, which are reminiscent of traditional sneaker design trends of the 20th Century.
If you take a closer look at the tongue, you’ll appreciate the subtle Reebok emblem on the embossed leather tag. Taking a look behind the tag will give you a nice little easter egg of sorts: A discreet 40th Anniversary word mark that says “The Club C 85”. It’s subtle, but super classy.
Rounding things off is a green Reebok graphic on the insole.
